RM of Wawken’s story
The Rural Municipality of Wawken No. 93 incorporated on January 1, 1913, in the southeast part of Saskatchewan. Its name might sound like one of the many Algonquian-origin place names found across the province, but it is actually a blend of the names of its two main communities, Wawota and Kennedy.
Wawota, a town, and the villages of Kennedy and Kenosee Lake are surrounded by the RM, and the localities of Dumas and Vandura lie within it. The RM's office is in Wawota.
Agriculture plays an important role in the municipality. Visitors are drawn to Moose Mountain Provincial Park and the Kenosee Superslides.
